The Task Force to Study Alternative Living Arrangements for Children in Out-of-Home Placement was authorized in October 2003 (Chapter 177, Acts of 2003). The Task Force will make recommendations regarding the issue of placing children in living arrangements out of their homes. In cooperation with the Department of Natural Resources, the Task Force also will determine the feasibility of alternative living arrangements that involve children in activities related to the Chesapeake Bay and the wilderness. Similarly, the Task Force is to consider cooperating with the Department of Education to develop special curricula for children in alternative living arrangements. Finally, the Task Force will study the need for medical and mental health services and alcohol and drug abuse services for children in alternative living arrangements.
Authorization for the Task Force extends to October 31, 2004.
