Final Report to Governor due Dec. 31, 2004.
The Governor's Commission on Housing Policy was authorized in 2003 (Executive Order 01.01.2003.10). To develop a comprehensive housing policy and a strategic plan to meet the housing needs of all Marylanders, the Commission will review and evaluate State programs and policies for affordable housing. It will consider factors such as: rental housing; special needs housing; homeownership opportunities; barriers to affordable housing; differing needs of different types of communities; use of housing vouchers and other housing assistance; the impact of priority funding areas; trends in the building industry; and the work of the federal Millenial Housing Commission. To assist its work, the Commission may hold public hearings around the State. The Commission will recommend to the Governor ways to increase and preserve affordable housing in all Maryland communities.
